Unless reading ingredient lists is your thing, finding a jam that doesn't have artificial preservatives, dyes, and tons of added sugar can be a drag. Why wade through a sea of jams if you can make a simple and delicious one yourself??
This recipe only requires two (yes, just 2!) ingredients, and even the least experienced cook could pull it off. The coolest part? We use frozen blueberries (ha ha - see what we did there?) so that we can enjoy fresh jam year-round.
Try it on whole wheat toast with almond butter or add it to your morning bowl of oatmeal. We love to stir it in plain Greek yogurt and top with nuts!
BLUEBERRY CHIA SEED JAM
3 cups frozen blueberries
1 tbsp chia seeds
Place blueberries in a small saucepan over medium-high heat until they are heated through and begin to release juices.
Turn heat down to low and lightly mash berries.
Add chia seeds and stir occasionally; once jam has thickened (about 5-10 minutes), remove from heat.
Transfer jam to sealable glass container, and refrigerate once it reaches room temperature.
Jam should keep for about 1 week in the fridge. Because there are no preservatives, it's better to be safe than sorry!
