The past few weekends have been full of traveling and airports and way too much traffic (but lots of family, thank goodness). The FIRST thing I plan before any trip (even before packing -- which is the worst, btdubs) are the snacks, and I thought it'd be fun to share the ones we typically like to eat on the road!
What does anyone want in life but a list of snack ideas? Amiright??
As nutritionists (and people trying to achieve athletic goals), food is #1. No matter where we're traveling, I always set aside time to make and prep snacks. We don't even have to be traveling very far; if I know good food options might not be available (e.g. Seahawks games, graduation ceremonies, shopping trips - lol), you better believe I have snacks on snacks.
I got snacks on snacks.
If I had a penny for every. single. time. a security person checked my bag and commented on all the food in there.....
I'm a childless soccer mom, what can I say?
Here are the most common foods that make my bag weigh 1000 lbs when we travel (I include snacks that hit on all the food groups - protein, carbs, vegetables, fat):
1. Baby carrots
2. Celery sticks
3. Apples, bananas, oranges, pears, other fruit
4. Popcorn (side note - recently tried TJ's Dill Pickle Popcorn. So much YES)
5. Homemade trail mix - almonds, walnuts, dried apricots, dates, figs or other dried fruit, dark chocolate chips
